DeZURIK

DeZURIK (www.dezurik.com), a world leader in the manufacture of water and wastewater treatment valves and equipment, engaged JDB Associates to develop their new web site with the latest Content Mangement System (CMS) features. Project accomplishments include:

  • General company information, product literature, and dealer locator for public users.
  • Secure and role-based intranet for access to internal sales literature, product specifications and sensitive price lists.
  • Content Management System to allow non-techincal users to maintain a library of several thousand documents with frequent updates and revisions.
  • E-Commerce capabilities to allow for purchasing of promotional items and to support the order and fulfillment of internal sales brochures and literature by a worldwide sales force.
  • Custom spare parts BOM explosion process to provide BOM info, drawings, and spare parts ordering information with a database driven application.
  • Repair kits selection application to identify repair kits based on a series of valve attributes and eventually provide a streamlined and on-line ordering process.

Repair Kits

DeZURIK has a large selection of repair kits depending on the type of valve, size, style and other criteria. Finding the right repair kits was a very manual process. JDB automated this function with a Repair Kits Lookup function. Users enter filtering criteria such as repair kit type, style, size, end and class and are given a list of matching repair kits along with pricing info. The next phase of the project is to tie the identification of the repair kit into the e-Commerce module to allow users to select and order the items that they need without any direct involvement from DeZURIK personnel. Customers are able to find the information they are looking for easily, and DeZURIK resource can focus on other customer service needs.

Spare Parts BOM

Dezurikrecspares.jpg

The DeZURIK parts department used to spend a lot of time on the phone talking to reps and trying to determine what spare parts they needed to fix a particular installation. This involved accessing and combining data from several systems and took a good deal of time. JDB was asked to help automate this function and deliver it via the web. Today, authorized representatives enter a serial number or a configuration code and the systems creates an exploded bill of material and lists all off the recommended spare parts available for purchase. Users can access drawings or instructions and easily identify the parts that they need to order along with pricing information. In the future, this will be tied directly to the e-Commerce module so spare parts can be ordered and fulfilled completely in a self-serve, streamlined and efficient process.

Secure Content Areas

DeZURIK Rep Login

Much of DeZURIK’s site is private with sensitive resources and materials for sales representatives to access from across the globe. Licensing agreements also required them to segregate their sales reps into groups based on the industry served and different versions of certain documents could only be accessed by one group or the other. JDB’s CMS implementation not only allowed this, but made it straightforward and easy to manage what was a fairly complex environment.

e-Commerce

DeZURIK Specialty Store

DeZURIK's site also contains two e-Commerce stores. One is for the reorder and fulfillment of marketing brochures and materials. JDB customized the standard shopping cart capabilities to streamline the process for their sales people allowing them to update quantities and add items to their cart without being forced to visit an item detail page for each. In addition, a specialty store was created to allow sales reps to purchase shirts, hats, mugs and related items and enter their payment information on-line.

Content Staging

Content Staging

DeZURIK’s site contains thousands of technical bulletins, brochures, product literature and price lists. Marketing and branding activities frequently result in hundreds of updates to many different areas of the site that are supposed to be implemented in concert. To help manage this, content staging is employed.

Content staging and work flow capabilities allow changes to be made to a staging environment ahead of time.  After the entire batch is validated and tested and ready for production, it can be easily moved through a single promotion request. It also allows multiple people to be involved with the updates, but only selected users have the authority to move changes into production for better quality control. There are even rollback capabilities so changes can be "undone" if issues are found after the fact. Imagine trying to identify and reverse hundreds of content changes to several dozen pages, finding and replacing updated documents and other changes that may have mistakenly been pushed out too soon.

Try and picture the following - It's December 22 and your company has just announced a major restructuring that is going to affect 100’s of pages of the web site that you are in charge of.  So much for that New Year's Eve party you had been looking forward to. What if you had a tool that allowed you to make, test and validate the the changes the week prior to the launch?  What if moving these to production could literally be done between the time that the ball in Time's Square starts its annual descent and the stroke of midnight?  JDB can help make this a reality.
